Shopping for your dream gown can bring up all sorts of emotions, and it does help to be prepared! Here is everything I think you need to know about buying a wedding dress. Feel free to chime in the comments to share your own tips and experiences.
Before you go dress shopping you should research, research, research. Some people may be able to go into a bridal store, never thought about a wedding dress before, and then buy one that same day. however, that is not the story for most brides. especially because you can’t always just walk into a bridal store. USUALLY AN appointment IS REQUIRED.
One of my favorite parts of weddings is the bride’s gown. But, I am no dress expert… So I have called upon the best of the best for help writing this blog. Below Beauty Within will answer some of the most frequently asked questions regarding dress shopping. Keep scrolling for those tips!

How far in advance of my wedding should I shop for my wedding gown?
We recommend shopping at least 7 to 9 months before your big day. Most designer gowns take about 4 to 6 months to be created and you’ll need a few weeks after it arrives for alterations. However, if bride has a shorter engagement, we have rush orders and off the rack sale gowns available.
What will my appointment be like?
Every appointment at Beauty Within is truly a magical, intimate, and fun experience. To get an idea of our appointment style, check out our blog post, The Beauty Within Experience.
Who should I bring with me to my appointment?
We recommend bringing just a small group of people who encourage and uplift you! Leave the big groups for your bridal showers and select just a few special people or one special person to search for wedding gowns with you. This keeps your appointment relaxed and intimate as you search for the gown that makes you feel the most beautiful!
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Just yourself! We provide everything you need for a fun, easy experience.
Can I bring champagne to my appointment?
You certainly can bring champagne with you to your appointment. However, we always offer our brides complimentary glasses of champagne or sparkling grape juice as well.
Should I do my hair and full makeup for my appointment?
You can come to your appointment however you are most comfortable! This day is all about you! If you want full glam - then come in full glam, girl!
What size are your gowns?
We can order our designer gowns in sizes ranging from 0 to 30, and our sample dresses in shop range from a size 6 to a size 28. We strive to make every bride feel beautiful and help her find a dress that she can feel confident in, no matter her shape or size!
How much money should I expect to spend at Beauty Within? What is required for placing an order?
Our gowns can range anywhere from $650 to $2,500, allowing us to help brides of every budget! If an order is under $2,000, full payment will be requested at the time of ordering. If the order is over $2,000, it would qualify to be split into two separate payments.
Am I obligated to purchase a dress during my appointment?
Certainly not! We understand that finding your dream dress can sometimes be a process and we are here to help you in that journey. We’ll assist you in narrowing down your style and determining what flatters your body best. We want you to say yes to the dress that is perfect for you, whether that turns out to be at Beauty Within or somewhere else.
Can I schedule multiple appointments?
Brides are able to schedule an initial bridal appointment and 1 return appointment as well. Return appointments are a great option for brides who need the night to sleep on the decision or want to come back with another friend or family member for support.
What gown designers do you have in the boutique?
We carry Sophia Tolli by Mon Cheri and L’amour by Calla Blanche.
What if I do not know what style dress I want?
No problem! Our team of professionals are trained to help you find a dress that best fits your style, flatters your shape, and makes you feel like a queen. We’ll try on each kind of dress and narrow down the style that’s right for you.
how many gowns can i try on during my appointment?
You are welcome to try on as many gowns as you would like during your 90 minute appointment.
Do brides really know when a dress is THE dress?
Every bride reacts differently to finding her gown. However, we do believe that finding your gown is a lot like finding your fiancé - when you know, you know.
Can I take pictures during my appointment?
Yes! We are happy to allow photos during our appointments.
How long does it take for my dress to come in?
Typically, designer gowns take between 4 to 6 months to arrive.
Will my dress need alterations?
Yes, nearly every bride needs alterations after her gown arrives in order to ensure it fits to perfection! Every bride is different and, therefore, every bride’s dress has to be altered to fit her uniquely beautiful frame.
